How to sync an iPhone with iCal on a Mac

August 16, 2012

sync an iPhone with iCal on a MacYou can sync your iPhone with the iCal app on a Mac to keep a track of all your schedules and appointments on the go. Suppose you add an entry about a meeting to be held to the iCal app on your Mac, the schedule will also get updated on your iPhone if the syncing has been done. The reverse is also true. If you add an appointment on the iPhone, it will also reflect on your Mac. Thus, by syncing the iPhone with iCal, you will always have access to the most updated calendar.

Follow the instructions given here to sync your iPhone with the iCal app on a Mac:

  1. Open iTunes by clicking the iTunes iconon the Dock of your Mac.
  2.  Now play in your iPhone to a USB port on the Mac by using the cable that came with the phone.
  3.  On the left hand side of the iTunes window, click the icon of the iPhone under the ‘Devices’ option.
  4.  Choose the ‘Info’ tab on the top of the iTunes window.
  5.  Click to select the check box with the option ‘Sync iCal Calendars’.
  6.  Click the ‘Sync’ button.
  7.  Click the ‘Eject’ button displayed next to the iPhone icon in the left pane of iTunes.
  8.  Now disconnect the iPhone from your Mac.

With these steps, you will be able to sync your iPhone with the iCal app on a Mac.

Note: With the iCloud cloud storage service from Apple, you can sync all your calendars on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and a PC. iCloud requires iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS or later models, a Mac with OS X Lion, or a PC with Windows Vista or Windows 7.
