With the over 700,000 apps available for download on the app store, it’s been raining apps for a while now. Nothing could highlight this more than Apple’s most recent initiative- the 25 billion app countdown.
Apple has kicked off a campaign on its official website to celebrate the download of the 25 billionth app from the official app store. The count currently (at the time of writing) stands at around 24 and a half billion. A live ticker at the bottom right of the Apple homepage gives you a live download count/update.
The downloader of the 25 billionth app is to receive a $10,000 App store Gift card. Oddly enough Apple seems to have kept the contest open to non-app users as well, perhaps to encourage increased app usage amongst this demographic as well. A form is available for contestants interested in the competition who would like to enter without an actual download of an app! So either way, start downloading apps ASAP people!
